POPPY
My EP POPPY is a rock tribute to my grandfather. Through this work I wish to share my passion for music and creative practice with him, in a way he will appreciate. It is a collection of memories and an amalgamation of experiences which have shaped this project. One of which is ‘Dad Rock’. The concept is simple ‘Dad Rock’ is great sounding, easy to play music using little knowledge and lots of fun. I recorded this EP alongside Alexander Sabotkovski (Vocals) so that even my father could pick up his guitar and enjoy the feeling of playing. I also express my love for ambient soundscape where in which I attempt to capture the feeling of repetitive nothingness. The disorientation of all sights sounds and sensations bleeding into the same. I have crafted this entire scene with my grandfather’s old guitar and amplifier, using feedback loops and experimental playing techniques.
