About the Artist

Jayden McCaughey is a musician / composer of primarily instrumental music who explores the unknown and unknowable. Jayden idealises defining concepts and ideas beyond words through music, which speaks to the innate, raw emotional response that occurs before the translation into conventional language and thought.

Time Unending
Time Unending is an instrumental three track EP which focuses on the paradoxical and dualistic nature of human existence. A pattern seeking brain running off logic, accumulating into something as illogical as the mind, with all its emotional qualities. Corporeality with the face of disembodied consciousness, somehow. The tracks represent and explore different themes and phases. The first track, Aetherionyx follows the soul before birth. The second track, Nidirr Nythil is the experiential medium of the soul – life. The final piece, Omnipopentum is the soul in death, where a transcendence occurs, we come to learn that we are the infinite multiverse experiencing itself for eternity.
This project is primarily concerned with conveying specific atmospheres and extramusical representation without language. I wanted to convey a tense, shifting atmosphere – as such it is presented in a heavy metal style, sequentially progressing through increasingly intense genres. Starting with a clean dark song, warping into a distorted doom atmosphere, and finalising with technical death metal.
