Two Different Perspectives
The project Two Different Perspectives is inspired by my curiosity about the stylistic differences between Japanese and American orchestral video game music. As both a gamer and musician, I have always been drawn to Japanese video game soundtracks, finding their melodies and arrangements particularly captivating. However, this preference led me to question my own biases and seek a deeper understanding of why I favour one style over the other. Throughout this project, I explore the distinct techniques, cultural influences, and compositional approaches that define the orchestral music from these two regions. By analysing their unique qualities, I aim not only to understand my personal inclinations but also to appreciate the diversity of expression within the world of video game music. This journey has given me a richer perspective on how different musical traditions shape the emotional and narrative experience in games.
